A pretty house in the Victorian street that inspired Albert Square in EastEnders is for sale.

Close to London Fields and Broadway Market, Fassett Square in Hackney was intended as the original filming location for the BBC One soap, which celebrated 35 years on air in February.

However, local traffic was deemed to heavy and there was a hospital nearby - since closed - so the idea was wiped and a studio replica was made.

The square was built in the 1860s and its gardens, layout and Victorian houses inspired the set design.

The four-bedroom house now on the market has access to the private garden square.

On Savills’ books for £1.5 million, the kitchen and dining area also has a large sliding door that leads to a peaceful decked and paved terrace.
