Snap up a home: former Kodak factory to be transformed into 460-apartment village in Harrow

Fifty-five-acre complex will feature an energy centre providing low-carbon heat.

Kodak's former 55-acre factory complex in Harrow is being transformed into 460-home Eastman Village.

New computer-generated images show five low-rise red-brick apartment blocks and a preserved historic chimney — a symbol, perhaps, that a bright new future can rise from up from industrial decline.

The chimney is framed by two new buildings: an energy centre providing low-carbon heat to the homes, and a community hall.

460 homes will be built on the site of Harrow's old Kodak factory

During its Fifties heyday, the Kodak processing plant employed 6,000 people. George Eastman, Kodak founder, invented roll film and brought photography to the masses.

The scheme named after him will be part of an entire new neighbourhood, with 1,800 homes and green space.

Prices start at £299,999. More info from Barratt.
