The entire east wing of a pastel-pink, turreted 18th-century castle with a grand dining hall and two acres of gardens has been listed for sale in Staffordshire.

Situated near Burton-on-Trent, on an estate once owned by Lord Burton, Callingwood Hall has far-reaching views over the English countryside.

Originally part of Lord Burton’s Rangemore Estate, Callingwood Hall was often tenanted and notable historic residents of the hall include the former Bishop of Stafford and Bishop Suffragan of Derby. King Edward VII is also thought to have once visited.

Dating back to the early 18th century, the property also boasts Gothic and Georgian features, such as the magnificent hall frontage, were added in the 19th century.

The east wing is the larger of the two wings and includes its own private entrance and driveway, as well as the original grand reception rooms, high ceilings and character features.

It has been thoroughly restored to reveal its original historic details, with a new kitchen, new bathrooms, updated heating system and a complete rewiring.

Inside there is a large entrance hallway, featuring a chandelier and fireplace, while a smaller hallway down a set of stairs leads to the kitchen and sitting room.

The formal drawing room features arched windows, a grand fireplace and picture rails, while a less formal sitting room features a log burner.

A further dining room downstairs is ideal for entertaining visitors. Featuring arched windows, a period-style chandelier and an original fireplace, there is ample room for dinner parties.

A family-sized kitchen includes plenty of modern amenities, a tiled floor and an Aga oven, plus large windows with views over the surrounding countryside.

Upstairs, a long landing leads towards the master bedroom, with its own walk-in wardrobe, as well as a huge bathroom with freestanding bath and double sinks.

There are three further double bedrooms and a family bathroom.

The current owners have hosted many lavish dinner parties in the grand dining room.

Set in two acres of grounds with far-reaching views from all angles, Callingwood Hall includes a west-facing terrace, from which to enjoy the stunning views, as well as a fountain to the front of the property.

A grand gravel driveway and electric gates offer privacy. Meanwhile a second driveway leads from the main house to the garage block, currently set out as a studio and gym.

Callingwood Hall’s current owners, Kim and Niall Turner, have completed an extensive restoration of the property since they bought it.

“The Hall is believed to date back from the early part of the 18th century, with later 19th century additions,” say the Turners.

The couple's favourite room is the grand dining room.

“The spacious dining room has been host to many joyful evenings with family and friends, while the kitchen is a sociable space where we can have a glass of wine while cooking,” they add.

“This is a property ideal as both a family home and for entertaining friends. We had our wedding reception in the garden and are well known locally for our New Year’s Eve parties.”

Callingwood Hall is for sale for £1 million.
