Obama’s island holiday home at Martha's Vineyard hits the market for £14.5 million

The property Barack Obama is thought to be returning to for his forthcoming summer holiday is on the market - so if he likes it that much, perhaps he will put in an offer. The six-bedroom home on Martha’s Vineyard’s Gold Coast, where the US President stayed with wife Michelle and their teenage daughters Malia and Sasha in 2013, is for sale for £14.5 million through Sotheby's. Perched 120 feet above the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Massachusetts, Chilmark House has an outdoor kitchen, an infinity pool, half-basketball court and in-home fitness centre. There are also nine-and-a-half acres of woodland along with a private beach and dock to ensure complete seclusion. Tom Wallace of Sotheby’s International Realty says: “The appeal of this Martha's Vineyard residence certainly starts with the rural characteristic of the town of Chilmark which is known for its farms, beautiful sandy beaches and rolling hills all overlooking the Vineyard's South Shore and Atlantic Ocean. This specific property offers great water views along with wonderful privacy and elegance that is rarely seen, even in this resort market. The attention to detail and the focus of the design around a family on vacation makes this a perfect island retreat or generational meeting place."
