If one of your favourite pastimes is gawping at exotic property listings then Rightmove’s top five most viewed overseas properties for 2019 so far will have you furiously clicking away.

These really are fantasy properties for most of us — you'll need a healthy budget to pick up a dream property.

From an Irish estate to an entire Nova Scotian island, you'll need at least £3.2 million to get on this particular ladder.

Here are the five most popular homes in the world.

1. Kaulbach Island, Canada: £3.2 million

Kaulbach Island is in Mahone Bay in Nova Scotia, Canada. The 60 acres of land feature woods, meadows and coastline.

In the middle is an 11-bedroom property in the Cape Cod style, plus there’s a beach house and a small farm.

Every detail has been thoughtfully considered: from the golden pine living room to the dark oak library, expansive slate terraces and peaceful sunset room.

Luggala Lodge, County Wicklow, Ireland

2. County Wicklow, Ireland: £24.9 million

Stepping onto the grounds of this secluded Irish country house, tucked away in the valleys of County Wicklow, is like arriving in Narnia.

This estate is spread across more than 5,000 acres of spectacular natural beauty, with Luggala Lodge, an 18th-century seven-bedroom house, standing at its centre.

The eighteenth-century gothic house is like a grand castle on a miniature scale.

There are battlements and crockets as well as a variety of pointed and quatrefoil wind ows, together with features such as limestone obelisks.

La Californie, Cannes, France

3. Cannes, France: £56.8 million

If money were no object, what would your house look like? Possibly like this £56 million paradise in the French hills above Cannes.

This eight-bedroom property offers incredible views over bay of Cannes and the mountains, while inside there is a tropical feel – including the large covered courtyard with a koi pond and a tropical living wall with a waterfall leading to the main entrance hall.

As well as a wine cellar, dance studio, swimming pool, bar and cinema there’s also a giant dinosaur skeleton in the hallway.

Bullet-proof townhouse, New York, USA

4. New York, USA: £39.4 million

This New York townhouse is a feat of engineering, and features a huge bullet-proof glass facade.

The glass front was made in Germany and Spain before being shipped to New York and the seven-storey structure is constructed as a crescendo-building property where each floor becomes increasingly spectacular.

A private roof deck with 360-degree views across the city is perfect for Friday night cocktails with your mates.

Ranch Latigo, Santa Barbara, USA

5. Santa Barbara, USA: £31.5 million

This Santa Barbara equestrian ranch sits among miles of rolling hills, with unparalleled vistas.

There’s a huge 11-horse stable, water wells and seasonal running streams at Ranch Latigo, plus tennis facilities and hours of riding within the rolling hillsides.

There’s also a helipad, a pool and gym and beaches are a 40-minute drive away. More info.
