Buyers could have their prayers answered with this Grade II-listed church conversion.

Bartholomews is a comfortable and modern three-bedroom home hidden inside a stone Norman church. The £725,000 property in the hamlet of Little Packington, Warwickshire, retains its medieval timber framing, spire, bell turret and stained-glass windows.

A porch with a stone base, carved wooden frame and tiled roof leads to a glazed front door which opens into a grand hallway with limestone flooring.

Triple-height vaulted ceilings provide the illusion of more space in the living and dining areas, which both have exposed timbers and sandstone walls.

The fitted kitchen has maple units topped with modern aquamarine toughened glass, there is a study in the former vestry and a spiral staircase leads to a first-floor gallery landing.

Upstairs, the first-floor bedroom has a Juliet balcony overlooking the living space, while on the second floor a split-level master bedroom has its own wet room and there is a further double bedroom. The family bathroom has a full-width window and a free-standing bath.

Outside, a gravel driveway provides parking for several cars. Fenced gardens surround the house and include the churchyard and a scattering of gravestones. There is a patio at the front and views across fields from the main lawn.

The grounds include lawned gardens, the courtyard and a front patio (Knight Frank)

Little Packington is in the Packington Estate, near the amenities of Meriden village, while the M6 and M42 are a few miles away.

For commuters, Birmingham International is three miles away, with trains to Euston taking 70 minutes.

The last service at the church was held on Palm Sunday 50 years ago. It has been a private home for the past 16 years after its renovation was finished in 2000 and is just under 2,700sq ft. The owner, who bought it half converted and has undertaken the majority of the work herself, wants to downsize.

Bartholomews has been on the market since October 2016, with British buyers showing the most interest.

“People are drawn to the property as it is a rare conversion, very well decorated inside and surrounded by surprisingly large gardens,” says a spokesman for Knight Frank estate agents.

Bartholomews is for sale through Knight Frank. Call 01789 611 045 for more details.
