It takes 10 times the average London salary of £46,915* to buy a home in the capital, according to new figures released by Lloyds Bank. However, those prepared to commute up to an hour can buy a home - and take care of travel costs - for just four times the average London salary. We reveal the top 10 most affordable commuter towns north of London, where the average price of buying a home starts at £160,425. (*Average salary figure based on the average London earnings for Travel Zones 1-2)
