Liverpool stepped up preparations for their return to Premier League action with a training session at Melwood on Wednesday.

The Reds will resume their pursuit of a first league title in over 30 years against Merseyside rivals Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday evening.

Jurgen Klopp’s side currently need just two more wins to make that dream a reality, and have the chance to earn one of those at the home of their local rivals.

Their hopes of doing so have received a boost after both Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Andy Robertson took part in training after recent knocks.

But there was no sign of Mohamed Salah, who missed the behind-closed-doors friendly win over Blackburn Rovers last week as a precaution.

Liverpool look to have an otherwise clean bill of health, which could be bad news for Carlo Ancelotti’s men as they look to avoid a third defeat of the season to their neighbours.

The Toffees have already suffered defeats at Anfield in both the league and FA Cup and will hope to salvage pride by turning the tables on home turf.
