Piers Morgan was accused of bullying as he subjected Good Morning Britain viewers to his opinions on veganism.

Morgan accused vegans of aggressively condemning those who eat meat during a discussion with PETA’s UK Director Elisa Allen and Nicole Carter, who gave up her vegan diet after 15 years, claiming it damaged her health.

Morgan, 54, accused Ms Allen of “hypocrisy” for encouraging people to stop the slaughtering of animals by scrapping meat and dairy from their diets, yet consuming products which cause the “slaughtering” of bees and insects.

“You are eating stuff that is caused by exterminating millions of insects,” he said. “Do you drink almond milk? You know that literally billions of bees get killed to make almond milk?”

Allen replied: “What I also know is billions of animals are getting slaughtered for their flesh. I care about all animals.”

Keen to get an answer, Morgan persistently asked: “Care about the bees or not? You work for PETA, so do you care about them or not? Why would you encourage the slaughter of billions of bees? It’s hypocritical.”

Susanna Reid told him vegans have to “eat something,” to which he replied: “I’m really curious about the hypocrisy.”

He said: “My bee in the bonnet about it is [vegans are] so aggressive about it and anti-meat eaters. If you want to be vegan do your thing I don’t care. If you want to be vegan and scream at me all day I’ll have a problem with it.”

Viewers were unimpressed by his “bullying” technique and accused Morgan of hypocrisy for “aggressively” berating Ms Allen.

One tweeted: “Piers Morgan has a beef with vegans because they're aggressive about it. Not that he's not aggressive bout anything. #GMB.”

Another wrote: “Piers is always so aggressive towards vegans when he interviews them #gmb.”

A third posted: “So far Piers has shot down ukip by going on and on and on and on at the bloke. Talks over Susanna. Now we're attacking vegans in a bullying way (sic).”

Good Morning Britain is on ITV, weekdays at 6:00am
