Alison Myners named as new ICA boss

One of the most glamorous art collectors and fund-raisers has been asked to help steer the Institute of Contemporary Arts out of its financial woes.

Alison Myners, wife of the former City minister Paul Myners, is to take over from BBC executive Alan Yentob as chair of the ICA next month.

She is well known in the art world as she has spent the past four years chairing the Contemporary Arts Society, which helps develop public art collections, and is also an emeritus trustee of the Royal Academy.

She said today: "I look forward to taking this unique organisation into a new exciting phase."
