Andy's Records at end of the track

12 April 2012

MUSIC stores group Andy's Records has gone into administration. Andy's, which blamed 'structural changes in the music retailing industry' for its woes, has struggled to compete against larger retailers such as HMV and Virgin music stores as well as the sale of music over the internet.

Set up in 1969 by Andy Gray and based in Cambridge, it has 23 stores, down from 43 only four years ago, and employs 159 staff.

Robson Rhodes has been appointed administrator and intends to run 14 of the remaining stores as a going concern ahead of a sale.
