Apprentice lawyer sues over leg injury

A TRAINEE lawyer who was kicked off TV's The Apprentice is suing for up to £100,000 after being crushed by a wall in south London.

Nicholas De Lacy-Brown had several operations to repair his leg, which was badly crushed when a lorry reversed into a wall which then fell on him.

The 25-year-old has undergone extensive physiotherapy following the event in May last year, which was captured by a documentary crew filming medics in the area.

In legal papers submitted to the High Court, Mr De Lacy-Brown says he also suffered "psychological injury" as a result of the accident in Balham. He has launched a personal injury claim against the driver and his employer, who have admitted liability.

Mr De Lacy-Brown, who has a law degree from King's College London, was walking in Balham when the lorry reversed out of a gate, ploughing into a concrete wall, and causing it to collapse. A friend said: "He was trapped for several agonising minutes and screaming in pain.

"Things took a surreal turn when a film crew jumped out of the ambulance with the paramedics."

Mr De Lacy-Brown was taken to St George's Hospital, Tooting, where he underwent a number of operations.

He is suing driver Sylwester Wierzbowski and his employer TGM Environmental Limited, a waste collection and recycling company.

Graeme Coombs, managing director of TGM Environmental, said: "We never set out in business to do anyone any harm and the fact we did in this instance is truly regrettable."
