Artist uses 100,000 texts for life story

12 April 2012

An artist from Shoreditch has saved every text message sent to her in the past 12 years - nearly 100,000 - and turned them into her autobiography.

After accidentally deleting her first text in 1999, Tracey Moberly, 47, vowed never to lose another.

She filled more than 30 journals with texts from six handsets and is set to publish them in the book, called Text-Me-Up!

It charts the collapse of her marriage, how she rebuilt her life and reactions to global events such as 9/11.

There are messages from graffiti artist Banksy and musician Pete Doherty. "It's like keeping a diary," said Moberly.
