BA claims 75% of flights will survive strike at midnight

12 April 2012

British Airways cabin crew begin four days of strikes from midnight tonight.

Disruption to services to and from Heathrow will continue after the industrial action ends on Tuesday because of aircraft and crew being out of place.

Unite union bosses have not yet ordered any more strikes after that — despite the two sides remaining at loggerheads in the dispute over pay, jobs and working conditions.

BA said it hoped to run 75 per cent of its usual schedule from Heathrow. This, it said, was more than expected because of the increasing number of cabin crew defying the strike call.

Unite said the claim was "propaganda" as the vast majority of crew supported the action.

BA said all flights to and from Gatwick and those from London City are operating as normal.
