Baby lives as crash kills family

A British toddler has survived a road crash which killed her parents and her older brother in north-west Spain.

Nigel Eastwood, 40, was driving the family's holiday hire car when it was hit head-on by an overtaking car coming in the other direction.

Mr Eastwood, wife Rebecca, 37, and their son Alexander, seven, died instantly. The couple's 22-month-old daughter, who police have not yet named, is being treated for fractures and other injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.

A woman from Barcelona and a Spanish man, 35, were also killed, while three more people were badly hurt when two other cars ploughed into the wreckage near the town of Sanxenxo in Galicia.

The Eastwood family are from Worsley, Manchester. Relatives were travelling to Spain today to formally identify the victims.
