Bank repossesses the wrong flat

13 April 2012

ONE incorrect letter on an address given to bailiffs meant the Royal Bank of Scotland cleared and repossessed the wrong flat.

Sara Hussain, 33, who lives in London, bought a flat in Dennistoun, Glasgow, as an investment. Bailiffs were given the address as 1L instead of the correct one - 1R.

The furniture was taken out, it was put up for sale and an offer of £23,000 accepted. The bank has apologised and stopped the sale but Mrs Hussain wants compensation.

She told The Times: 'I was absolutely distraught.'
