Barclaycard fights 'expensive' tag

BARCLAYCARD is to launch a range of cheaper, more-flexible products to combat heavy competition in the market and criticism that its cards are too expensive.

Britain's leading credit card is also expanding into financial services such as ISAs and mortgages. These will be offered in conjunction with partners such as Legal & General, with whom Barclays already has a joint venture.

The move is intended to capture business from the 40% of Barclaycard's eight million customers who do not have a relationship with the parent bank.
