BB left with just £2 for food

Ray's roulette challenge failed and the house are left with just £2 for food
13 April 2012

The Big Brother housemates have just £2 to live on after Ray made a disastrous gamble with their food budget.

As house leader, the Irishman had to undertake an individual task which involved gambling the current £51 budget on a roulette table in the reward room.

He was allowed one spin of the wheel and chose to bet the entire budget, placing just £1 of it on black. Black came up - so Ray was left with only £2 for next week's supplies.

It means the five remaining housemates will have to survive on their most meagre rations so far over the next week.

Ray had sole responsibility for deciding how to spend it and chose one pack of value toilet roll, one tin of sweetcorn, four tins of chopped tomatoes and two carrots. Basics such as potatoes and rice are supplied by Big Brother.

The other housemates watched Ray's failure on a TV screen in the living room.
He chose to put a £20 chip on red, £10 chips on 21, 29 and 16, and a £1 chip on black - then watched aghast as the ball landed on black number eight.

He smiled, hung his head and said "maybe not", before pouring himself a drink. The housemates were good spirited about it and cheered for him anyway.
