A replica of Prins Willem, the flagship of the Dutch East India Company in the 17th century, was destroyed in a fire today in the museum harbour in Den Helder in the Netherlands.

The original vessel was a warship commanded by Admiral Witte de Witt, in charge of keeping the coast clear for trade during the second Dutch war against England.
