Bollywood queen’s back home

12 April 2012

She left London for Bollywood at 17, but Katrina Kaif, 26, was back today to launch her new film, Tees Maar Khan, topping off a year when she became India's most bankable female leading actress.

With co-star Akshay Kumar and director Farah Khan, she will sell the first 20 tickets for the heist movie at the Cineworld Feltham tonight.

It is expected to break box office records on its release next week. As the capital has a big Asian film fanbase, "we felt it would be unfair not to do the London beat", said Kaif.

Daughter of an English mother and an Indian Kashmiri father, she was born in Hong Kong and spent her teenage years in Finchley, where her family still lives.

But she will miss the family Christmas there — she will be in India for the film's release.
