Boys found stabbed to death in car

12 April 2012

An investigation was under way today after two young children were found stabbed to death in a car.

The two boys, aged seven and eight, were found with a 43-year-old man who had stab wounds to his chest at the Hilltop and Manwood Farm golf course, Handsworth, Birmingham, at 10.15pm last night.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said the man, who was arrested at the scene, was in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

The spokesman would not confirm that the man, from Great Barr, Birmingham, was the children's father, but added: "That is the theory we are working on."

He said officers were also working on the theory that the man's injuries were self-inflicted.

The three were discovered behind some outbuildings at the golf course, which is off Park Lane.

A post mortem into the children's deaths was due to be carried out later today.

Chief Superintendent Ellie Baker, head of crime support at West Midlands Police, said: "At this early stage, this tragic incident appears to be domestically-related."
