Britain to push ahead with Bribery Act

Back-tracking: Justice Sectretary Ken Clarke had previously postponed the Bribery Act

The Government today pledged that the Bribery Act would be implemented shortly after a threat by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development to "blacklist" British exporters.

The row erupted after the Standard revealed that Justice Secretary Kenneth Clarke had postponed the Bribery Act to draw up clearer guidance on how it will work. But the OECD, which wants to standardise anti-corruption laws, warned of "robust action" against UK firms.
