BT set for £190m data storage boost

BT GROUP has clinched its first major deal under new chief executive Ben Verwaayen by striking a joint venture with computermaker Dell and EMC, the world's biggest maker of data storage systems.

The tie-up will enable BT to offer an increased range of data storage services, building on the capabilities of its 22 secure data centres in Europe which house companies' data on everything from their ecommerce and trading figures to personnel.

BT said it would derive about £190m of new revenue from the additional services.
