Bush terror gaffe seized on by Kerry

George Bush came under fire today for saying the safety of America from terrorism was "up in the air".

His comment in an interview was seized on by John Kerry who claimed it showed he was failing to win the war on terror.

The President told Fox News the terrorist threat was still high, three years after 9/11: "We have to be right 100 per cent of the time in disrupting any plot and they have to be right once. Whether or not we can be ever fully safe is up, you know, up in the air."

Mr Kerry hit back: "You make me president, we're going to win the war on terror. It's not going to be up in the air whether or not we make America safe."
