Cabaret star sues over shelved show

Liza Minnelli and her new husband David Gest have filed a £15 million lawsuit against a number of cable TV networks for dropping plans to broadcast a reality show based on their lives.

Minnelli, 56, and Gest are seeking the £750,000 balance on the contract and £14.5 million damages for VH1's cancellation in October of the show, Liza & David. By that time, it is alleged, more than 60 hours of their personal and professional lives had been filmed.

In a statement in October, the network said the show was cancelled because "we were not given the co-operation and access we were promised".
