Capita calls on Bombay for help

CAPITA, the contracting giant behind London's congestion charge, is setting up an Indian operation. The move will see Capita funnel work from client companies to call centres on the sub-continent as well as to armies of Indian workers doing back-office work processing forms for British businesses.

Capita said it had bought a 60% stake for £285,000 in a subsidiary of Mastek, an IT company based in Mumbai (formerly Bombay).

Capita said the deal formalised an existing relationship with Mastek. Capita used Mastek to help it process work on its contracting running the Britain's Criminal Record Bureau. Mastek's existing British customers include Woolworths.
