Charities: Our fear over spending cuts

Charity bosses have voiced fears that spending cuts will leave their groups facing severe cash problems.

A survey by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations found 63 per cent of respondents felt their balance sheet would worsen over the next 12 months.

One in five planned to lay off staff in the next three months. More than 120 senior figures were questioned.
