Children rule at Southbank Centre festival

Highlight: the festival will include the premiere of The Trial of Dennis the Menace
12 April 2012

A festival on the South Bank is putting children in charge. About 50 London primary school pupils will get the chance to take tickets and welcome visitors, authors and actors to the two-week event at the Southbank Centre.

Festival highlights include the premiere of The Trial of Dennis the Menace, left, a new piece of musical theatre which explores why the Beano character is so naughty.

There is an opera for babies, hip hop and scientific experiments with Robert Winston.

Imagine Children's Festival, sponsored by the Book People, runs from February 11 to 26. www.southbankcentre.co.uk
