Couple 'shot dead in home'

12 April 2012

Investigations were continuing today after a couple were reportedly shot dead in their home.

The bodies of the man and woman were discovered at a house on the outskirts of Glasgow at around 7.45pm on Tuesday.

Newspaper reports said the victims were a married couple in their 40s who were shot dead in their suburban home.

Police said post-mortem examinations would be carried out to establish the cause of death.

An armed response unit was sent to the scene in St Andrew's Avenue, Bishopbriggs, which is close to the local golf course. Part of the road was cordoned off last night.

A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police said: "At around 7.45pm on Tuesday March 16 the bodies of a male and female were found within a property on St Andrew's Avenue, Bishopbriggs.

"A full report will be sent to the procurator fiscal and post-mortems will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death."

Bishopbriggs lies to the north of Glasgow in East Dunbartonshire.
