Crash landing for wedding bouquet

Ben Bailey12 April 2012

A wedding in the Tuscan countryside ended in disaster after an attempt to throw the bridal bouquet to guests from a plane brought down the tiny aircraft.

The ultralight plane crashed after the bouquet was sucked into the aircraft's rear rotor, causing the engine to explode. The plane came down near a youth hostel close to where the reception was being held in Suvereto, near Livorno.

The pilot was lightly injured in Saturday's crash. The passenger who threw the bouquet had several broken bones.

The bride and groom were not aboard the plane.
