Criminals launder £25 billion a year

London has become a haven for money-laundering criminals, a report warns today.

Experts believe £25billion is laundered through the UK every year.

The study, by anti-corruption campaign group Transparency International, said that operators used front companies - where real business is conducted and illegal profits are mixed in - and shell companies, which conceal the owner's identity.
