Cyclist mistaken for Israeli spy

Charity ride: Sash Reading
12 April 2012

A London cyclist has told how he was interrogated by Hezbollah after being mistaken for an Israeli spy during a 14,500-mile charity bike ride to Delhi.

Sash Reading, 25, was cycling through Lebanon with his friend Julian Cox, 24, when they were stopped and interrogated for four hours. They also had all of their possessions searched and phones examined.

But despite their ordeal, the architecture student from Stoke Newington said: "They realised we weren't spies and we became the best of friends."

The pair have raised nearly £5,000 for children's charity International Childcare Trust.
