Date set for Paul and Heather

12 April 2012

Sir Paul McCartney and his fiancee Heather Mills will tie the knot in June at a posh summer retreat in the United States, it was reported today.

The music legend and former model and landmine campaigner Miss Mills, 34, are said to be set to wed in the Hamptons, the playground of the wealthy on Long Island.

Sir Paul - who met Miss Mills in 1999 - is to seal his love with a ceremony on June 6, according to The Mirror.

The ex-Beatles star, 59, has a home in the Hamptons, which is a getaway destination for many New Yorkers.

A spokesman for the star was unable to confirm the date or any details of the ceremony. The pair announced their engagement in July 2001 after Sir Paul popped the question by handing over a diamond and sapphire ring he had bought in India.

At the time they said they would marry "some time next year" but gave no hints as to where or when.

Sir Paul's first wife Linda, to whom he was married for 29 years, died in April 1998 after a long battle with cancer.Mills has also been married once before. That marriage ended in 1989.
