Dog walker may hold rape clue

Police who are hunting a violent serial rapist believe a dog walker could hold vital clues leading to his arrest.

In the latest incident a 13-year-old girl was dragged off her bike and attacked in woodland in Pyrford, near Woking. The sex attacker is believed to have struck on four previous occasions.

Detectives are appealing to a man walking a brown dog between Pyrford Common Road and Hamilton Avenue at around 6.45pm to contact them. They hope he could provide a detailed description of the assailant who is in his 30s, with brown hair and a deep voice. The girl is said to be severely traumatised and is being cared for by her parents.

All the attacks took place near busy roads and footpaths during daylight and detectives fear it is only time before the rapist strikes again.

The latest attack is being linked to three others in Surrey this summer and also to the rape of a 10-year-old girl in Kent in November. In all cases, the attacker has taken clothing. It is not clear if this happened in the latest incident. Anyone with information should call 01483 571212.
