Dome firm buys Wembley Arena

Sarah Marks12 April 2012

QUINTAIN Estates, the Millennium Dome development company, has added another troubled brownfield London site to its portfolio with the £48m acquisition of 44 acres of land and buildings around Wembley Stadium, north west London.

Quintain is buying Wembley London - which takes in just about everything but the empty stadium - from dog-racing group Wembley Plc. The deal includes the conference centre, exhibition halls and Wembley Arena as well as the land.

Quintain has asked the Richard Rogers Partnership, the architecture firm, to design a mixed-use scheme that will integrate with the new stadium.

Proposals will be submitted to planners in the next 12 months, although the development may take a decade to complete.
