EastEnders boy on cannabis charge

12 April 2012

A young actor is facing the sack from EastEnders after being charged with possession of cannabis near his Enfield home.

Ashvin Laximon, 17, who plays Martin Fowler's best friend Asif, was already a favourite to be written out of the series after producers threatened to rid the show of unnecessary characters.

Police in Enfield arrested him on Friday night as he made his way home and the actor spent the night in a cell before officers decided to charge him early on Saturday morning.
