Ex-Barracks developer could veto scheme

12 April 2012

PLANS to develop the Chelsea Barracks site could be scuppered by the scheme's former joint backers, it emerged today.

A court battle between Christian Candy's CPC Group and site owner Qatari Diar could result in a CPC veto over any new proposals put forward by Qatari Diar this summer. The original scheme was scrapped by Qatari Diar last June after Prince Charles said the modernist proposal was out of keeping with the area.

Documents submitted to the High Court by Qatari Diar admit that CPC, which is claiming breach of contract, could obtain a "collateral advantage" if a judge decides in May that Qatari Diar wrongfully withdrew the plan without consulting its ex-partners.
