Experts set to call for GM ban

Trials of GM crops show they do harm the environment, ministers will be told this week.

Royal Society experts will call for a ban as test results come out tomorrow, it has been reported.

Two out of three crops tested over three years, modified oilseed rape and sugarbeet, are said to be harmful to plants and insects.

But the tests, the largest GM study in the world, reportedly found a third crop, GM maize, was not harmful.
