Fears grow for safety of missing Valentine's woman

Police were today growing increasingly concerned for the safety of a 22-year-old woman who went missing on Valentine's Day.

Joanne Nelson was last seen by her boyfriend at their home in Hull after they exchanged Valentine's cards. The Job Centre worker subsequently failed to turn up for work.

Miss Nelson's distraught boyfriend broke down in tears as he appealed for her to get in touch. Paul Dyson told ITV's Calendar News: "I love her. I just want her back. She's always smiling. She has not got a nasty bone in her body. I want to know where she is."

Mr Dyson said he gave his girlfriend a kiss and a cuddle after exchanging the cards. He left her in bed while he went to work at 6.30am and has not seen or heard from her since.

Her family have been unable to contact her on her mobile phone. Miss Nelson's unlocked Renault Clio car was still parked outside her house.

Detective Superintendent Ray Higgins said: "We have got some real concerns that Joanne may have come to some harm."

Miss Nelson is white, slim and about 5ft 5ins with lightblonde hair which hangs just below her shoulders. She has blue eyes. It is believed she may be wearing a long white jacket.
