Firefighters rescue 14 trapped by blaze

Firemen used ladders to rescue 14 people trapped in their flats when a blaze in a shop below cut off their escape down a stairway.
Seven adults and a child were treated for smoke inhalation in hospital after the fire at about 11pm on Saturday in Green Lanes, Haringey.
The fire brigade said the whole of the staircase from the ground floor to the second floor was destroyed.
