Force for good: Damien Hirst’s star wars art

3 October 2013

The bad boy of British art has turned to the Dark Side. This stormtrooper helmet decorated with his signature spot motif is Damien Hirst’s contribution to charity exhibition Art Wars.

It and helmets by Jake and Dinos Chapman, and David Bailey, among others, will be unveiled as part of the Strarta Art Fair at the Saatchi Gallery from October 9, then at Regent’s Park Tube for Frieze. They will be auctioned at Christie’s for Missing Tom — a charity set up by artist Ben Moore to find his brother, who has not been seen since leaving his Brentford home in 2003 aged 31. The last trace was when money was taken from a cashpoint in Ancona, Italy, on July 17 that year.

Moore said: “Damien heard Tom’s story and wanted to help.”
