FT web site to charge up to £200

Latest news and most comment content will still be free. FT.com will have two levels, one costing £75 a year and another £200 a year. The FT's chief rival, the Wall Street Journal, has been charging subscribers to its WSJ.com site since its launch. It currently costs $59 (£42.35) a year.

The firm said the move comes as part of a redesign aimed at making the site simpler and faster to navigate. Several other newspaper websites have mooted charging for services. This Is Money, owned by Associated Newspapers, is free.
