Gang clash ends in stabbing

13 April 2012

Detectives hunting the killer of a 20-year-old man stabbed to death during a street fight between two rival gangs appealed to the public today for help in tracking down those responsible.

The man, who has not yet been named, died in hospital after the incident, which happened shortly before 10pm on Saturday, in Brockles Mead, Harlow, Essex.

Essex Police believe the man, who lived in Harlow, was stabbed after an argument between the two groups.

Another man, said to be in his 30s, was also taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow, with a minor stab wound.

A police spokesman said a number of men involved in the altercation, some of them of Asian and Chinese appearance, were seen running from the scene.

Officers had started house-to-house inquiries and forensic examinations.

Det Supt Kevin Macey, who is leading the inquiry, said: "A young man is dead and this is a tragic culmination of whatever sparked off the fatal incident.

"There are obviously people who know who was responsible and I am appealing to anyone with information to come forward without delay."

Anyone with information should contact Harlow police on 01279 641188.
