Gerry McCann hits out at claims his daughter Madeleine is dead

Angry: Gerry McCann
12 April 2012

Gerry McCann had a heated exchange with reporters as he arrived in court for the second day of the £1 million libel trial against the Portuguese police chief Goncalo Amaral, who wrote a book claiming the McCanns covered up their daughter Madeleine's death.

Mr McCann grew angry after he was repeatedly challenged by a Portuguese journalist over testimony given by Chief Inspector Tavares de Almeida yesterday in which he claimed Madeleine died in the family's holiday apartment.
Mr McCann said there was "no new evidence" to indicate she was dead.

He told journalists: "This is the legal process we're going through to protect our daughter and our family. Anyone else with children would do the same."
