Google plays it cool on quote

GOOGLE, the popular internet search engine, has played down rampant speculation that it could seek a stock market listing, but did not rule out the possibility.

Co-founder Sergey Brin said: 'We are profitable and we don't need the cash. But it might be nice to have the currency of being a public company.' He added: 'There's a good chance that eventually we're going to do it.'
