Gun found after Mark Duggan shooting used in pistol-whip assault

The gun found next to suspected gangster Mark Duggan whose shooting by police led to the August riots was used in a pistol-whipping in Hackney a month earlier, it was revealed today.

The Met revealed that it had charged a 29-year-old man with possession of the BBM Bruni handgun. It also emerged there were concerns over the way police investigated the assault involving the handgun in July in Kingsland Road.

Police watchdog Commissioner, Sarah Green, said: ""Our investigation will consider to what extent, if any, the conduct of this investigation may have impacted on the supply of the firearm found at the scene of the shooting of Mark Duggan."
