Heathrow Express services were today threatened with strike action in a row over a sacked union official.

The RMT announced a strike ballot among train driver members saying a second union representative had also been "targeted" because of union activities.

The result will be declared next month. Bob Crow, the RMT leader, said: "We have informed the Heathrow Express that a dispute situation now exists between our two organisations and that we will remain in dispute until this matter is resolved to our satisfaction."

The Express offers a 15 minute dedicated service beween Paddington and the airport.
