Heroin threat trio jailed for 23 years

Three men who threatened to inject a company director and his wife with heroin during a £50,000 raid were today jailed for a total of 23 years. Jason Jarrett, Taz Bashir and Wayne Mills tied up and gagged Desmond and Dorothea Ryan after forcing their way into the couple's home near Basingstoke.

The balaclava-clad trio put the couple, 67 and 52, through "the most terrifying experience imaginable" as they demanded valuables and cashcard numbers, Winchester Crown Court heard.

Mr Ryan was struck in the face and legs and Jarrett, a heroin addict, told the couple: "We're going to drug you."

The three men admitted aggravated burglary. Jarrett, 20, and Bashir, 25, also a drug addict, were jailed for eight years and a concurrent three years for car theft and another break-in. Mills, 22, was jailed for seven years.
