Hotels feel the benefit of G20

12 April 2012

The Foreign Office estimates that the total cost of the London G20 summit will be £19 million.

But the capital's hotels and restaurants would benefit from an influx of thousands of officials, journalists and campaign groups.

More than 600 delegates from the G20 countries and financial institutions are due to attend, and leaders' entourages would take the total to several thousands.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "The £19million is a significant sum, but represents a worthwhile investment.

"If actions agreed at the summit add just 0.1 per cent to economic growth, this would be worth over £1billion in the UK this year alone, and over $50billion globally."
