Hutchison sets Hong Kong 3G date

HUTCHISON Whampoa said today it would launch its third-generation (3G) mobile phones service in Hong Kong on 27 January, after a slow start in Britain.

It will be the first of Hong Kong's four 3G licensees to do so. Analysts said customers may be put off by handset prices from HK$3,980 (£287).
